I know I told some of you that my next post would be about gun control, (it’s almost ready) but I feel this topic is more important: Happiness is a choice.
I’ve alluded to this in some of my other posts, but never really explained it. It’s all about perspective and choices. All of life is really. I’ve seen some of the most downtrodden people look around and smile. Some people are in so much pain and could die any day, and yet they smile at people around them.
How can people do that? Speaking from my own experiences, when the world knocks you down, you have two choices: get back up or roll over and cry about it. You can spend all your energy bitching about it, hoping things miraculously get better, or you can spend that energy moving forward and make the most of what you have.
If you’re one of the first, I wish you well, but your problem isn’t going to go away until you confront it. It might be scary, it might be hard, but the best things in life are hard, and you learn more from them than anything else. “That’s just not fair!” Who told you that life was fair?
If you’re one of the other ones, find other people like you that want to make things better and encourage one another. Part of the reason for starting this blog site was to have a way to vent. The other part is to help encourage, inspire, and maybe educate others that are trying to become better people. I’ve had various jobs over the years, but the thing that matters most is that I try to be my best at whatever I do.
When people are young, they are making some of the most important decisions they will ever make in their lives. They will decide how important people are to them. They will decide how important material things are to them. (Things like brand names, types of shoes or clothing, and cars) This is also the time when they decide to be introverts or extroverts, honest it dishonest, kind or mean, loving or hateful.
What kind of people you allow in your life is a choice. What kind of profession you like or want to be is a choice. Everything in life is a choice, and all these choices help determine what makes you happy. Therefore, happiness is a choice.
Knowing this makes a huge impact on your life. Once you start to realize that your attitude towards life helps to determine your level of happiness, you can make other decisions that change your perspective. Perspective is everything. If you grew up never having seen poverty, and you made less than everyone you know, you might feel badly about that. If you made less than everyone in a nice neighborhood, you would probably feel differently about that, especially if you’d ever known poverty.
That’s why you need to make better decisions, so that you are happier with how things in your life turn out.
How do you feel about gun control? Whether you are for it or against it, Noone can say the topic isn’t important. As great as our country is, did you know we have one of the highest murder rates?
Did you know that if you take out Chicago, Detroit, New York, D.C., and that we then go to one of the lowest? It seems that these are also cities with the most strict gun control laws.
If that is the case, then stricter gun control laws don’t seem to be the answer. I’m not advocating that we do away with the laws. It shouldn’t be easy to buy a gun legally. However, in these places, most of the people with the guns don’t have one legally. But the average Joe Citizen doesn’t get to buy one. Criminals are pretty sure the people they are going up against don’t have a gun, and if they do, then they feel confident they’ll win that fight.
I believe that people with certain psychological conditions should be banned from gun ownership. I believe you should have to take a gun safety class before you can purchase one. Waiting a week before getting the gun can be taken care of by making the safety class one week from date of application. Once the class starts, they are taught general gun safety and how to clean and maintain their own gun. Once class is over, they can then purchase the gun they were using.
Other than that, what other laws need to be made about guns? Maybe require someone to be 21 before they can legally buy one. Anything else? Am I leaving anything out here? I don’t think so. I could be wrong here, you tell me.
Where do you stand on the issue? What are your thoughts? Let’s have a conversation about it. Please don’t bother to respond if all you want to do is bash someone for their opinion. It’s fine to disagree, but I can do it without talking smack about you. Come up with solutions, don’t just add to the problems.
Ok…. so you gotta love those people who turn on their turn signal AS they are turning. I think it is a bit late at that point. Why even bother?
How about those people who speed up to get in front of you and then slow down? Don’t you just love that? The only thing worse than that is when you go around them and they do it again.
With so many games out there it is sometimes hard to choose those that are worth the money.
My gaming interests vary depending on mood. I like the role playing fantasy games, massively multiplayer online (MMO) games, as well as first person shooters (FPS).
I have played many of the FPS games such as Black Ops, Frontline, and the Battlefield franchise.
Battlefield 1 is the newest addition to the franchise. Great game for all FPS fans.
Black Ops and Black Ops II are pretty much the same game with a few different maps and perks. Maybe a couple of new guns. That’s about it.
Frontline was a good game but didn’t catch on. Not enough advertising budget I suppose.
The Battlefield franchise is one of my favorites. Out of all of them to date, I like Battlefield Bad Company 2, and Battlefield Hardline the best. The maps are great for all the classes. I would have liked to be able to go prone on the B2 maps though.
Battlefield 3 was too much like Black Ops. A lot of inside maps, and the outside maps were maybe too big for my taste. Unless there were a bunch of people on you could spend a bunch of time trying to even find someone to shoot at.
Battlefield 4 is much the same. The maps are better and there are a bunch of new gadgets and weapons. However, it just doesn’t have the same feel as Bad Company 2. Fast paced with plenty of hiding places and plenty of space to have fun as a sniper.
I think just about everyone likes to laugh every now and again. Jennifer and I like this one guy that does prank calls. He is seriously funny. Be warned that his material is not for all viewers/listeners. Much of it is adult content and some profanity. This guy has something like 5 or 6 different voices he uses. The first one I heard from him was one about a Thanksgiving turkey… laughed so hard made my side hurt!! You should go check him out.
